simpsonsmovie.com.

I'm a Simpsons old-schooler, and the notion of this movie (I can't believe I haven't addressed it at all yet) makes me want to jump for joy/puke my brains out. Either way, I remain an intensely devoted and much-absorbed fanatic, and I will go see it.
I may even pay to go see it.

Simpsons fan or not, this is really fun: create your Simpsons avatar on the site.
I clearly could have used this feature a long time ago; I took things into my owns hands last year and it didn't end well. The Simpsons me that was born today:

The official-issue avatar me possesses loads of goofy charm that I completely lack (i.e., it's a Simpson), but I didn't get any leeway on the shirt-pants-shoes combo and couldn't find my real haircolor.

In any case, you can download your avatar, and if you save it, you'll become a resident of virtual Springfield. My love for the Simpsons institution means I owe it to them to suspend my skepticism over the new face of the Simpsons, the risky "we're finally doing the movie" move, and the clever marketing swamp.

This is one of those extremely rare instances where I'm unambivalently and unabashedly square in the middle of a product's crazed niche audience, and I'm just gonna wade right into it. Or in other words, "Mmm... virtual donut..."

tenacious V.

To those who doubt the power of a little tenacity, I say....

"FEED ME!"

Behold: Audrey, my determined little flytrap, brought back from the grips of death at the hands of a hardware store seedling pot.

A withered clump of roots with two blackened leaves and unresponsive traps just two months ago, she now has plenty of moss and rocks to wiggle around in, non-stop outdoor light, daily fresh water... and note the two(!) full-bellied traps, stuffed with flies she caught herself.

There is hope for me yet.
