"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

innately acquired.
I'm just toeing the surface of the ocean here, but nothing inherently means anything. There exists no innate value or meaning, and nothing is any one thing until someone decides it's so. You only are if you or someone else says so, and the truth of any object or situation is predicated solely on the most vigilant faction or widely-accepted consensus of opinion about it. So the next time you decide something, remember that you're either alone in your decision, or alone with the people who agree with you, but it gets no more definitive than that.
